Get Ready With Me: Pirate Edition

This year for Halloween I have decided to be a Pirate! Call me Captain Cittie.

NYX- Love in Rio in No Tan Lines Allowed (I've linked the ipsy post)
E.L.F.- Eyeshadow "C" Brush
E.L.F.- Contour Brush
IT Brushes for Ulta #104 (not pictured)
Real Techniques- Brow Brush
Essence Eyeliner pen
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Black Velvet
Milani Lipstick in Black Cherry
Covergirl Lash Blast

1. Start with foundation of your choice and prime your eyelids. I use my E.L.F. Acne Fighting Foundation and Urban Decay potion primer.
2. Use the C brush to cover your lid in the silver taupe from the NYX trio.
3. Use the Contour Brush to put the matte black from the NYX trio in the crease and outer corner.
4. Blend with the #104 brush. I blend from the silver into the black.

*Sidenote: I don't love this matte black, it has a lot of fall out, but it worked for this.
5. Line your upper and wing out as you see fit with the Essence Liner pen.
6. Line your water line with the Urban Decay Pencil.
7. Use the brow brush to make a more defined corner with the black and bring a little black under the lower lash line.
8. Add some Bronzer under your cheekbones.
9. Blend the Bronzer as you apply Setting Powder with a Powder Brush. Also clean up any fallout.
10. Put your lipstick on.
11. Ta Da!

Autumn Lookbook

Hey guys, I have recently done an overhaul of my wardrobe to some extent and wanted to do a Autumn Lookbook with my new outfits. Please keep in mind that South Carolina stays pretty warm through the fall, but as it gets colder I add cardigans and tights to most of my outfits so they transition. Also in case anyone is curious I wear between a size 16-18 depending on what it is. Most the Target stuff is XXL. If you are curious about any of the other sizes, please let me know.

Check out the Makeup from this post here.

This has been one of my go to weekend day out go to outfits. Its very comfy and easy to wear.

Sweater: Shawl Collar Kiss of Cashmere Sweater from Victoria Secret
Shoes: Toms Silver Herring Bone

I wore this outfit to my friends wedding, it was cute but it caused some bad color contrast between her dress and mine in pictures.

Belt: Faded Glory from Walmart
Necklace: World Market
Boots: Faded Glory from Walmart

I am very excited to wear this outfit out and find other tops to pair with the skirt. I think its the perfect length and fit for a skirt.

Tops: Forver 21+
Skirt: Forever 21+
Boots: Faded Glory from Walmart

This is one of my go to school outfits. Jeans, Boots, Black t-shirt and sweater, easiest and comfiest outfit for school.

T-Shirt: Target
Skinny Jeans: Forever 21+
Bag: Target

I love this dress so much that I bought it in two colors. I have it in black and blue too. This is a comfy day out dress and I can wear it to work too.

Bag: Forever 21
Necklace: Gift

This is an outfit I've wanted to put together since I accidentally shrank this dress a little in the washer. It is almost cool enough for leggings.

Sweater: Target
Dress: Target
Leggings: Victoria Secret

Please let me know if you want to know more about any of these outfits. What are your go to outfits for Fall?

Jill Stuart Eye Palette and Lip Balm

The beautiful and wonderful SunnyDahye sent me two beautiful Jill Stuart products. They are the eyeshadow quad in Nude Venus and the lip balm in W3.
First, can I just say these products have gorgeous, if a bit over the top, packaging. I would describe the packaging as grown up princess packaging.
The lip balm feels great on the lips and has a lovely rose scent. It lasts for about two hours and comes across as a clear gloss. For me the downside is that it is in a pot. I am not a fan of potted lip products because I hate sticking my fingers in them and I always forget a lip brush.
The eyeshadow palette is a gorgeous neutral palette. Perfect for everyday but it has a dark enough brown to get a smoky eye if you wanted. The eyeshadows are lightly rose scented too, I'm not sure that its practical or necessary for the eyeshadows to be scented but it fits with the over the top luxury of the products. The shadows have pretty good pigmentation, they apply smooth with no fall out. They also blend well. I love this palette and expect to use it for everyday and it could also be great for traveling.

Overall, this was an amazing present to get! I think the products are great aside from my issue with potted lip products.
I would say that I probably wouldn't purchase these regularly because they are very expensive. The quads are $50 and the lip balm is about $24.
Have you tried any Jill Stuart products? Which ones?

Wedding Wednesday: Best Friend's Wedding

My friend Melissa got married to her best friend and an awesome guy, Justin, on Saturday.  She was kind enough to agree to letting me write this blog post about the wedding.

It was a small simple wedding, that I think went perfectly! She didn't have any bridesmaids, but myself and a few other friends filled in to help.

In the morning Shawn and I went to Melissa's house. I did her makeup and we loaded the cars to go to the venue.

We arrived at the River Road and Jasmine Houses to find the very beautiful garden almost ready to go! We just had to hang the paper cranes that Justin and Melissa had made and strung up. Shawn kindly made a detour on the way to the venue to pick up some champagne for the bride and groom use for a toast.

Next the girls snuck away to finish getting Melissa ready. We put her into the dress and did a few last touch ups before it was time for pictures.

These gorgeous flowers were by Jenny at The Frugal Flower. I love the combination of the hydrangea and white roses.

This is one of my favorite pictures from an artsy standpoint.

Justin was kind enough to continuously remind us that "bow ties are cool", when he wasn't running around trying to make things perfect! For those of you who are Doctor Who fans, yes this was an intentional reference.

After some drama, where Shawn had to run back to Melissa's house to get the marriage certificate. The ceremony commenced, only a few minutes late.

The ceremony was short and sweet, it fit the simplicity my friends wanted perfectly.

And then they were Mrs. and Mr. And it was time to celebrate.

Again with the simplicity there wasn't any dancing just friends coming together to celebrate.

That food was delicious, sorry I didn't take any pictures of the food. I will say that the staff at the venue was very kind and asked the chef to point out what had flour in it so I knew what I could eat.

The favors were cookies and paper cranes, which everyone loved.

Their guest book was a very neat picture of a tree, where the guests signed the leaves. I love this idea and think I will try to find something similar.

The cake and food were provided by the venue.

Left to Right: Shawn, Melissa, Justin and Me (Cittie).

Although I took these photos, the photographer for the wedding was our friend Susan Duncan who does photography for small weddings as Palmetto Pictures.

Melissa's beautiful dress was from Jo-Lin's Bridal in Irmo, South Carolina.

The Officiant was Kelli from Events on a Shoestring.

My favorite part about going to a wedding is seeing how happy my friends are to share their lives.

What is your favorite part of going to a wedding?

September Favorites!

Its Favorites Time!

So this month six beauty favorites and then one home favorite that I didn't put in the picture (sorry). Most of my beauty favorites this month are staples of my everyday makeup, if you would like to see a post with my everyday makeup routine please let me know.

My Beauty Favorites are:

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara: This mascara has an hourglass shaped brush with medium to dense bristles. I think the brush does wonders to life, separate and curl lashes. I never feel I need to curl my lashes with this brush. The formula is also a favorite because it holds all day even with some eye rubbing. This just masks my lashes long and full, its amazing!

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 012 Buff Beige: I love this powder so much that I have hit pan and worn off the writing! This powder is really good to do a light dusting if you have oily skin but want a light makeup day. It is also a great setting powder which I use over my E.L.F. liquid acne fighting foundation. When this runs out it is a definite repurchase.

Laura Geller Spackle: This is a very light and refreshing primer that does not make me break out or itch (which have both been issues in the past). Its easy to toss on and feels more like a moisturizer than a primer, but it helps keep makeup from settling into pores and lines. On light makeup days I toss this on with a little stay matte and I'm out the door.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: I actually have both the original and the anti-aging (pictured) and I can't really tell the difference. However, I can definitely tell the difference between this and other primers or nothing. I made it through an eight hour day and a one hour work out class with my eye makeup looking like it did in the morning, enough said!

Urban Decay Naked3: I've been enjoying experimenting with my Naked3 palette and this month I've been trying to use more mattes. I love the combination pictured below and I add factory if I want a more dramatic look. Limit and Nooner make the perfect everyday combination!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Grey Area: I have talked about this formula before in a favorites for the Mint sorbet color, however I have noticed that the formula varies from color to color. Grey Area does not last as long as Mint Sorbet did but I can't help loving the color, its a charcoal with purple undertones and I think it is great for fall.

My Home Favorite is:

Yankee Candle Scenterpiece: I mentioned this in my homegoods haul, but I bought the new wax warmer system from Yankee Candle. The actual system was $19.99 and the wax is $4.00 a jar. This thing makes my whole apartment smell amazing. Additionally I love not having to scrape away was to have a new scent. I just have to pop the bowl the wax come in out of the system and put in a different one. I can then switch back to the first scent at another time if I want.

What are your favorites this month?

Sephora Cinderella Storybook Palette

As you saw in my Fall Beauty Haul, I managed to snag the last one of these palettes from my local Sephora. This is the Sephora Disney Collection Cinderella Storybook Palette. I know this palette would be hard to find but I still wanted to provide some swatches and a review.

Overall I love the colors in this palette and the packaging is beautiful. I will say that the packaging is a little inconvenient for quick use.

As for quality I would say the shimmer shades are almost as good as Urban Decay and they are very pigmented. The mattes were a little more disappointing, they were a little chalky coming out of the pan but the application was pretty good. They are also pretty blend able.

One of my favorite things about this palette, I didn't notice until I swatched it, is how each row works well as a row. The top row is kind of an outlier but it has some pretty pastels. In each swatch picture the first row of swatches is without flash and the second is with flash.

Row 1

Row 2

Row 3

Row 4

I'm very excited to try some looks with this palette but I think I would have trouble (because of the packaging) using it everyday.

Have you tried any limited edition palettes? If so which ones? Do you have this palette or any of the other palettes from the series?
