Fall Everyday Makeup

I wanted to share an eye look that I've been wearing a lot this fall. I really like finding ways to wear bright colors in an everyday look. I waited until I could find a close dupe for the Urban Decay shadows I used because they were part of last years vice palette (Vice 3).

Before I get into the look, here is the closest dupe I have found. The quince palette is the Rimmel quince in Burgundy Palace and costs about $5. The light beige color (labeled 1) is similar to Last Sin, but Last Sin is more pink and the is more of a chunky shimmer, while the Rimmel color is more of a fine shimmer. The Rimmel burgundy color (labeled 2) is very similar to Sonic, which I was very happy about since Sonic is one of the reasons I bought the Vice 3. The Rimmel shade is a little less pink but looks very similar when blended out.

Overall, the Rimmel shades are excellent quality, very pigmented and blendable. You can achieve an almost identical look using them.

I started with Urban Decay Potion Prime all over my lid. Next I covered my lid in Last Sin from the Vice 3 palette. I then used Sonic from the Vice 3 in the outer corner and through the crease. Finally, I blended Sonic into the lid and around the edges.

To complete the look, I added some liquid liner, I used an Essence Eyeliner pen; and I added some mascara, I used the Tarte: Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.

Make sure to tag me on social media if you try this look.

I hoped you liked it and I am always on the look out for dupes.

Would you like to see more everyday looks using non-standard everyday colors?

Urban Decay Vice 4 Swatches and Review

Let's be honest, I was kidding myself when I thought I wasn't going to buy this palette. I told myself "You have enough palettes, you have enough pretty colors, you don't need this one, you don't need those colors." But then I hit pan on my favorite go to taupey-silver (the middle color in the Nyx love in rio trio- no tan lines allowed). Keep an eye on Robbery when you look at the swatches because that  was the straw that broke my resolve.
Onto some details: This palette retails for $60 (I used my Ulta 20% off on it) and you get 20 shadows that are .8grams each. It comes in some really snazzy and sturdy packaging, and includes a little travel bag and double ended brush. The shadows are a mix of finishes ranging from matte to chunky glitter.
Talking about Vice Palettes generally: Vice Palettes come with a great big mirror that stands up on its own making them great travel companions. I think that my Vice 3 has a better hinge because my mirror will sit at most angels but my Vice 4 will not. Another thing I like about Vice palettes as limited edition, collecting palettes is that the overall dimensions are the same from year to year so they stack neatly. The overlay on the front of Vice 4 does keep it from being super flat, but its gorgeous.
Onto the swatches and notes on some of the colors:
*Please note that when I swatch I rub my finger in the shadow and then swipe once, because I think that gives the best sense of the product.*

Moving from Left to Right I'm just gonna briefly comment on some of the shades.

Dicreet, Framed, and Bones are all very nice shadows but my skin tone is so similar to them that the swatches don't come across very well.

Left to Right: Bitter, Discreet, Framed, Bones, Flame, Grasshopper, Fast Ball, Grip.
Flame wasn't as bright as I expected but its still very pretty.
Low and Crowbar are my least favorites in this palette, they are chunky glitter shades that come off a bit chalky and they loose some of their unique color when applied. Also Low applies a bit darker then it looks in the pan because the glitter makes it look lighter in the pan.

Left to Right: Low, C-Note, 1985, Deadbeat.
The Satin and Micro Glitter shades are some of the best in this palette, such as Fast Ball, 1985, C-Note, Underhand, Harlot, Beat Down, and Robbery. They all apply smooth, true to color and super pigmented.

Left to Right: Crowbar, Arctic, Underhand, Beat down, Delete, Robbery, Harlot, Pandemonium.
Overall, I think that this is a great palette but I don't think it is a palette for everyone. I think Vice 3 had things for everyone because it had a really great set of neutrals, which this is missing. However, this has a lot of great cool tones and if you love a silver or purple eye look you will have things you will use plus some new things to play with.

Have you tried this palette or any of the other Vice palettes? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments.

October Mini Haul

I bought these products a couple weeks ago and wanted to post a quick mini haul. I will be filming a larger haul this weekend but I'm not sure when I will have it up.

One of the things I bought was the NYX Prismatic Shadow in Jaded. I am in love with this line of shadows because they all have a little bit of a duo-chrome look to them. Super velvety and I love it.

The next things I bought were from the Walgreens Disney Villains Collection. Maleficent is my favorite of the Villains that they had and I wanted to choose things I would actually use. I bought the Maleficent contour compact and the Maleficent makeup brushes.

I really like the bronzer and blush in the contour compact but the highlight was too dark to be a highlight on my skin. I think the compact was between $3-$4.

The brushes are really cute and surprisingly soft. I think that it these brushes weren't so cuteI wouldn't feel like they were worth $10, but for being cute and decent brushes they were totally worth it. I showed the handle length next to one of my real techniques brushes for comparison, they aren't really travel size but they aren't really full size either.

Have you tried any of these items or anything else from the villains line at Walgreens?

Bella & Bear Pluckers (Tweezer Set) Review and Coupon Code

Bella and Bear Pluckers

The lovely ladies at Bella and Bear were kind enough to send me their Pluckers tweezer set to review and share with my readers. I was a little concerned that I wouldn't have a lot to say about tweezers but I have to say I am very impressed with these tweezers.
Bella and Bear Floral Print

So let's start with what initially drew me to Bella and Bear Products. Their packaging all includes this adorable mint and floral print. I have shown a picture of it against my planner and phone case so you can see that this is a persistent obsession of mine. (If you want to be a detective I had Jamberry nails on Instagram that matched my phone case last year.)

Bella and Bear Pluckers

In the Pluckers see you get three tweezers: Fine Point, Flat, and Slanted. They come in a cute travel case that is a nice faux leather lined with a suede type fabric. The case was much better quality than I expected since they are listed for $13.

Bella and Bear Pluckers

Now for the tweezers, I really like these because the are easy to close, the handles are large enough that I'm not dropping them and they close tightly. I think I will get the most use out of the slanted and fine point for brow maintenance. I used them both to take care of some strays this past week and they were fabulous. The flat I think would be great for false lashes, but I rarely wear falsies (like never) so I haven't tried that yet. The thing I think I will use them for is applying Jamberry nail wraps or my Essie Nail Stickers.

Even without the case I love that these Tweezers are a pretty mint teal and the Bella & Bear name is in a lovely script.

The drawback for me is that the flat and slanted tweezers aren't super sharp; but I think with the inclusion of the fine point tweezers and with are tightly as they close, they don't need to be razor sharp.

Coupon Code for Bella & Bear:

Now to use the coupon code. Bella and Bear gave me a 20% off code for any of their products to give you, that is good until December 31st, 2015.

Enter Code: CITTIE10 at the checkout and be sure to click apply before placing the order.

Now if you going the Bella & Bear Band of Beauties you can get 25% off instead of 20%.

I think I want to order their brush collection and maybe the brush cup, but I wish the brush handles had their print!

Will you be ordering? Have you found any awesome small brands?
