Instead of doing a super in-depth review, I'm going to go over the things I look for in a planner and why the Passion Planner fits those needs.
Weekly and Monthly Layouts
I like to have both a weekly and monthly layout because I use them to organize different things and get different perspectives.
The monthly layout in this planner is very simple and I use it to get a big picture view of paychecks and bills. This also helps when I am trying to figure out what weekends my husband is and isn't working.
The weekly layout (which I will discuss in more detail in other parts of this post) is particularly useful for how I think about my week. Ever since I started college I think about my week in a block schedule way and the weekly layout allows me to do that because of the use of times on each day. I do use the time block for my work at a space to create a task list for work.
I have pretty awful handwriting and it gets worse if I don't have lines, so one of the number one things I look for in a planner is lines in the daily sections. The Passion Planner definitely delivers on lines.
I like to have a place to put a less time specific to do list, which you can see there is space for on the left hand page.
I like having the blank space on the right because it is an excellent flex space that I have used for everything from the phone number for a doctor's appointment that week to doodling. This is also an area I can put a post it without covering up my schedule.
Study Construction and a Pocket
My Passion Planner has survived a year of heavy use with minimum wear and all the pages are still inside. It also has a pocket for odd bits of paper, though I wish it had some sort of way to seal the pocket, so I wouldn't worry about small pieces of paper escaping.
Cons to the Passion Planner
All of the Pages are Black and White
I'm not entirely sure this is a bad thing, but it has occasionally bothered me. All of the pages are very simple, and black and white. This can be boring but some people might find it tranquil. I have chosen to look at it as a perfect blank slate and I can decorate it or not as I see fit.
There are no quick tabs for the months or the week. There is a ribbon that you can put on the current week, but I wish I could have both the month and the week easily marked. I am working on using washi tape in my 2017 Passion Planner to assist with this issue.
I regularly find the larger one too big to carry around all the time, but the small one is too small for the format to work for me.
So the main way I like to or would like to decorate my planner is with stickers. Unfortunately, very few people design stickers for the Passion Planner, most are for the Erin Condren Planner. Chelsea Brown makes some that are very nice but she's really the only shop I've found making them. I have found ways to make some for myself and use washi tape, but more on that in a later post.
What planner do you use and why? Let me know in the comments down below.
I ended up taking a very long break because life happened and I had lost the passion for blogging. Over the past year I would think about my blog and miss it every once in a while but it has only been in the last month or so where I have felt like I truly wanted to come back.
So here I am.
I have started with a new layout, I have cleaned out some of the old content that wasn't doing so well, and I have some new things that I've added.
I have organized my posts so you can find the categories you want as easily as possible. I have added a link to my Etsy Shop - Cittie's Crafting.
All in all I wanted to come back refreshed.
As for me, a few major things have changed since my last post.
These are in no particular order:
- I have graduated law school.
- I have taken and passed the bar exam.
- I have a full time job.
- I have gotten married to my best friend after being engaged for over 4 years.
- I have taken up figure skating and it has become a big part of my life.
- My little household lost one dog (he was very old) and gained a new one (he is a little hellion). This brings the dog total to one yorkie (Dašenka) and one yorki-poo (Watson).
So from here on out, there will be posts that resemble my old content but I also have a bunch of new things to share, and I'm looking forward to it!
